conference 2008

CALL FOR PAPERS

The Faculty of Letters from the University of Bacau- Romania, together with UFR ARTS University, Bordeaux 3 – France and “Alecu Russo” State University of Bălţi – the Republic of Moldavia invite you to take part in the annual International Conference on the topic

“Particular signs. Language, discourse, society”

21-23 noiembrie 2008

The topic we suggest continues and enriches the directions of discourse analysis begun in the previous editions. This year, the social discourse will be the main theme that we invite you to reflect upon. It was suggested to us both by the interesting debates from the previous conference and by the preoccupations of the groups of research from our faculty
The debate we wish to initiate together starts from the recognition of the controversial nature of discourse - complex object of study, claimed by linguistics, logics, semiotics, literature. More than a mere reflection of society, the discourse builds the elements and institutions of the social space and produces the intersubjective relations / connections. Beyond the theoretical preoccupations, the discourse and its analyses must consequently serve the needs of society. That is why we suggest focusing our attention on the contemporary discursive manifestations, analyzing at he same time their effectiveness and the way in which the discourse becomes action. We have primarily in view the necessity that the researchers’ work to find possibilities of application in the social space. We hope that this topic will rouse your interest and, through your participation, we may gain the favorable premises for a scientific reunion.
